Street view is older than dirt in much of the south. Crossings that have been upgraded and fixed years ago are still not up.cabman701 wrote:OK... so about the 100% accurate part? For kicks and giggles, I zoomed in on the crossing below. The map says it has Harmon LED's and GS electronic bells. Yup. Airport Rd, the crossing pictured, has fortunately been upgraded from those crossbucks. Especially since Airport road is very busy.TrainmanKight wrote:Street view is older than dirt in much of the south. The map is not 100% accurate.
Those crossbucks were most likely installed after an EF-4 tornado went straight up Airport Rd. in November of 1989.

Was able to video the Queensbury Dr. Railroad crossing today. I know, the video is shaky because I did not expect a train. If anybody is wondering about the sound quality, I did not have my flip camera with me at the time so I had to use my vivitar camera.

That's an insulated railjoint doesn't tell me anything, other than that's the termination of some signal system.freebrickproductions wrote:Here is a picture of the rail detection circuit for either Whitesburg drive and Blanda Drive railroad crossings or Wheatherly drive railroad crossing:

Re: Huntsville, AL area railroad crossing signals
Here are some more pictures of the Drake Ave. signals.

The WRRS bell.

Two damaged lights.

Wiring near the signals.

The 12x20 lights are FS/WCH lights just like the one I own!

An 8" WRRS light next to a FS/WCH 12x20 light.

There is also a former railroad crossing near Milton Frank Stadium. I think it is a former L&N railroad crossing.
The stop line.

Facing north.

Facing south.

Marker for the railroad crossing.

Also, I found something very interesting, some rail going across a creek. Any ideas what it might be?

Here are some more pictures of the Drake Ave. railroad crossing:
The lights are WRRS 8' lights and the bell is a WRRS Mechanical bell.

Also, here are some pictures of the Whitesburg Dr. and Blanda Dr. crossings. The crossing has three E-bells and the junction boxes (or whatever they are called) on the overhead part of the cantilevers are made by WRRS despite being new cantilevers
.
I also had some pictures of this crossing before but I lost them
.

You can see a wire that some traffic lights were mounted on when they redid the intersection (and crossings) before they removed them a little while later.

The one mast signal.

The lights are Harmon LEDs.
The junction boxes on the masts of the signals are made by a company that uses the letter "H" for its logo.

I think the paint on this E-bell is fading.
