I noticed the video states "the wayside horns are louder than the locomotive". I do not agree with that statement. The wayside horns sound loud because the person taking the video was standing right there at the crossing. A locomotive horn is much louder and carries a lot further than those crappy little speakers.

They never wanted the sound to travel farther than the crossings.
