Which pole exactly? Because if you are talking about the regular crossing poles, they measure 144 Inches.

Nope. Its just what the railroad decides to install. For example. Most bells have fittings for 4 or 5 inches on the bases.

WCH makes their bells fit a 4 inch base, but they sell a 5 inch adapter from what I recall.
