Nope. Its just what the railroad decides to install. For example. Most bells have fittings for 4 or 5 inches on the bases.

Ok, so if a WCH signal would have a WCH E- Bell, what size would it need?

WCH makes their bells fit a 4 inch base, but they sell a 5 inch adapter from what I recall.
