Considering that most of the signals along the former line had lights, that's my thought as well.

Came across this one outside of Atlanta today: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.597123, ... g8WUgQ!2e0. Looks like Google caught a track observation train as well. :TUP2:

Looking at older street view images, the Safetran Type-2 there appears to have replaced a GS E-bell. Reminds me of a couple of crossings in Athens.
