This crossing in the Netherlands still retains the lower-toned mechanical bells!

It appears the other ones along this line that had mechanical bells have had them replaced...

Active crossings:

This one had mechanical bells when street view went through. However, since the image is from 2010, I highly doubt they are still there:

They/Them for me, please.

They could move it to the left a bit. It looks a bit awkward and that isn't just because of where the lights are on the signal.

Got a mechanical bell there too! Looks to be Modern Industries or US&S?

The railroad probably had a surplus of those lying around, if I had to guess.

This is just a guess, but that business is an auto repair shop, looks like it has been for a long time. So... there are cars parked in the area in front of the signal periodically. They mounted the lights high for clearance issues related to that?

I don't really think it could be moved any further towards the road or it would be prone to getting clipped by turning cars.

Just my :2cents: worth.

Looks like the line is out of service. Part of the grade has been paved over.

Line looks to have still been in service back when GSV passed here in 2012.

Like what was said last week about dating how old signal installs are, it's impossible to tell for sure unless we have photos of that crossing right there that are as old as the install itself.
