Wow hinged gates that's odd! Also old gate mechs! Btw I hate them ugly red crossbucks I hope metro doesn't start using them everywhere... Stupid Queensland! Why'd you have to come up with a ugly new design! :Curse1:
I wonder if those are type 3 e bells as well? I hope
I totally get what you mean about Metro not upgrading important stuff. They only do it when A Current Affair runs a story about them
Metro, why are you so bad at maintaining your railway crossings??

Found some interesting crossings beyond Geelong.

This gateless crossing has two hybrid bells and a reserved crossbuck.

https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.238 ... 312!8i6656

A rather recent flashing lights upgrade.
Before (2008): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.229 ... 328!8i1664
After (2010): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.229 ... 312!8i6656

Gateless crossing with a Safetran m-bell!.

Odd position for the side lights.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.311 ... 312!8i6656

A gateless crossing with lights above the crossbuck. Strange bell mounting too.

After (2010): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.234 ... 312!8i6656

A nice old crossing with rusty looking masts, sadly ruined with crappy e-Bells.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.225 ... 312!8i6656

A recent install with boom gates on a dirt road.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.214 ... 312!8i6656

Terry Mulder's crossing! :LOL3: Here's where it got it's name from, BTW.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.230 ... 312!8i6656

A crossing being upgraded from passive to flashing lights. The signal masts, bell, and relay case had been installed, but the lights had yet to be installed.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.299 ... 328!8i1664

Another crossing going under the same upgrade, note how the Stop sign is on a separate post?

That's a neat crossing, specially the Safetran bell, I wonder if it's still there? Looks odd how the signal with the bell has the crossbuck and SORS sign facing the opposite side of the track, almost looks like the entire signal was installed facing in the wrong direction. Interesting mix of inverted and newer SORS signs.

Interesting signs at Orange NSW, probably installed after a string of incidents where the gates were hit (or did the hitting). They were still there in 2010 but were gone by 2015.
2010 https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.284 ... 312!8i6656
2015 https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.284 ... 312!8i6656

Still at Orange, this crossing had the bell rotated, most likely when the new crossbucks were installed.

Ok, most of us know that the Portland line is one of the last lines in country Victoria to still have a lot of m-bells. I thought I would post a rundown of what's to offer. Despite all the images being from 2010 or earlier, most if not all of them should still be there...

Mortlake-Ararat Road, Maroona (Hybrid): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.444 ... 328!8i1664
Delacombe Way, Willaura (Hybrid): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.546 ... 328!8i1664

South Boundary Road, Hamilton (Hybrid, not on GSV but there's a video of this crossing online): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.758 ... 178418,18z
Hamilton-Port Fairy Road, Hamilton (Teardrop): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37.763 ... 328!8i1664

Garden Street, Portland (Teardrop): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.331 ... 312!8i6656
Kennedy Street, Portland (Hybrid): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.335 ... 312!8i6656

These ones are on a spur line to the wharf.
Anderson Street, Portland (WCH, replaced a Safetran bell!): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.349 ... 312!8i6656
Cliff Street, Portland (Westinghouse Teardrop): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.355 ... 312!8i6656

Lastly, are these long disused crossings on the Mount Gambier line. These haven't seen any trains since 1995 and have most likely been removed now, but you never know!
Woolsthorpe-Heywood Rd, Heywood (Teardrop): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.127 ... 328!8i1664
Henty Highway, Heywood (Teardrop): https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.125 ... 328!8i1664

As a bonus, the next crossing down that line is passive and has Hazard Triangles!

This crossing near Darwin is having some repair work being done to the grade.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-12.654 ... 312!8i6656

Alice Springs has a crossing with a cantilever. There are three Safetran type 3 e-bells and gates on the median signals.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-23.701 ... 312!8i6656
The crossing has 12 inch LED lights which seem to be on all crossings in the Northern Territory, I believe they are made by Westinghouse (Siemens).
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-23.700 ... 312!8i6656
Back in 2008 the crossing was gateless, it had 8 inch lights and m-bells. The cantilever was installed before the gates were.

This crossing at Port Headland WA has cameras mounted on top of the gateless masts.

Pretty American-looking cantilever there as well!

Found this crossing in Croydon, SA with GRS XB/XD lights on two gateless signals. The back lamps seem to be covered up and I'm willing to bet the gate mechs are from GRS...

https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.897 ... 312!8i6656

Another signal at the same crossing has a reserved crossbuck.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.897 ... 312!8i6656

Back in 2013, this crossing still had m-bells.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.897 ... 312!8i6656

Another nearby crossing has GRS Lex-c lights and still had m-bells as of last year, though the m-bells are probably gone now.

Another nearby crossing has a lot of construction going on at it. (Grade separation, perhaps?)
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.907 ... 312!8i6656

Another crossinjg with reserved crossbucks.

One of y'all really needs to get out to South Australia and document those crossings with the Lex-C lights!
