Went along the Outer Harbour line and there certainly aren't any m-bells or Lex-C lights left, but still some crossings with incandescent lights. The lights on this signal which we suspect to be XB lights have been replaced by United Group LED's, but strangely the incandescent lights remain on the gated signals https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.897 ... 312!8i6656

Luckily there is still one pair of XB lights at Fussell Place, Alberton https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.859 ... 312!8i6656
The crossing still has all of it's incandescent lights, including the GEC's https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.859 ... 312!8i6656

At the Coglin St crossing (now the first after leaving Adelaide Station) not only have the Lex-C lights been replaced by United Group, but the old gate mechs have been replaced by new WCH ones https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.901 ... 312!8i6656

Also went for a ride down to Seaford and there are still plenty of incandescent lights and old gate mechs on that line, but sadly no m-bells or Lex-C lights. Went past Oaklands Park and work hasn't yet commenced on the crossing removal. Hope to film Oaklands Park tomorrow morning, followed by Alberton and hopefully one of the m-bell crossings.
How many more days do you plan on spending in Adelaide?

Will leave on Saturday morning, so tomorrow will probably be the last day of filming. Going home and then hoping to do a separate trip for the Portland line and Geelong in about another week. It turned out to be a bit much to do in one trip, and the weather isn't the best for the next few days, specially in VIC.

Okay, though it sucks to lose a whole day due to weather... :aaargh:

Yes it was annoying, the wind was very strong and cold and there were frequent showers. Spent the whole day riding around on trains so at least I got to work out which crossings to film. There are many more crossings I would love to film, but If I can get 3 tomorrow I will be happy.

Good to see that Adelaide Metro hasn’t upgraded everything! Convenient time for bad weather to roll in lol!

The weather is a little better today, managed to film Oaklands Park and now I'm at Alberton.

While we're on the topic of Alberton, what is this on top of the signal with the XB lights?

It's a junction box, looks like the cover is missing or rusted out because it has electrical tape wrapped around it. Those lights were actually made by McK&H but still have the provision for the smaller rear-facing lights, just like the XB. Will post a few pictures later this afternoon.

Filmed the crossing at Oaklands Park this morning https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-35.010 ... 312!8i6656
The crossing is going to be removed and according to this website construction is due to start mid-2018 https://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/ma ... s_crossing
No work seems to has started yet but there seems to be some preparations underway. Some temporary concrete barriers have been delivered near the crossing, and there are markings painted on the ground all around the crossing to show the locations of buried cables and other utilities.

Also filmed the crossing at Alberton https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.859 ... 312!8i6656
It has some interesting equipment such as WRRS gate mechs and an big variety of incandescent lights (GEC, McK&H, Westinghouse, WCH). The one pair of McKenzie & Holland lights are a rare type which look similar to the GRS XB lights, they have provision for a rear mounted lens which has been blanked off. Also on top of the mast is a junction box.

Also forgot to mention that this abandoned crossing near Kilkenny Station (on the Outer Harbour Line) has now had the signals removed :Awww:
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.887 ... 312!8i6656

Didn't film any other crossings today and have finished filming, leaving Adelaide tomorrow.

I wonder if this now removed disused crossing in Koo Wee Rup (which I've posted several times before) also had these same type of lights?
