Lane Road, Tennessee City, TN
*originally recorded on 1-10-23*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WRRS 8 inch lights, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching the meets at the siding west of McEwen, I decided to chase I125 back east to see about getting at least this crossing in Tennessee City. Here we see I125 coming through once again, this would be the only other time I'd catch it on this trip (though, once again, this ain't my last video of the day).
This crossing is another nice one, featuring what appears to have originally been a 1960s/early-70s L&N install. Later-on in the 70s, it appears that the L&N replaced the front-left light, though the crossing remained largely unchanged for many years otherwise. Then, sometime between 2010 and 2013, I'm guessing the original WRRS bell here died, so CSX replaced it with a Safetran Type 2 e-bell. After that, sometime between 2013 and 2016, both signals here were replaced, with the far signal getting its current (I believe) Safetran gate mechanism and the closer one getting its current Siemens gate mechanism. Finally, in 2020, someone unfortunately knocked-down the original signal on the far side and it was replaced with the current one, though it appears that the Safetran gate mechanism was re-used.
Thankfully, despite these upgrades, the closer signal retains all of its original WRRS 8 inch lights! Hopefully these continue to remain around here many more years to come, but either way, I'm glad I got this crossing recorded when I did.
