The first crossing seen is this one:

The second is in the unincorporated community of Tiffany, near Shopiere, southeast of Janesville. It has since had new signals installed. The searchlight signals along the line were replaced as well. Interestingly, the crossing signals first dropped off here for the pending replacement project in the summer of 2021 had gates with them, but apparently they changed their mind. You can see one of the signals even has a holding clip for a non-existent gate at the top of the mast.

That signal definitely looks rather strange with the wind-guard but not gate! I believe the clamps fastened to the masts between the bells and the bases are also where the gate mechs originally rested.AndyWS wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 2:20 am The second is in the unincorporated community of Tiffany, near Shopiere, southeast of Janesville. Huh, interesting. That means they must have used the same signals they dropped off here, but decided to take the gate mechanisms off and use them elsewhere for some reason.freebrickproductions wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 4:24 amThat signal definitely looks rather strange with the wind-guard but not gate! Also didn't realize this at first, but looks like a westbound train was coming when Street View last passed through in 2023:

That's pretty serendipitous considering how relatively little traffic this line gets (usually just a local that works Clinton and South Beloit - and doesn't even do that every day, going the other direction out of the yard and working other customers in the Janesville area on certain days - another local that runs to Proviso and back usually overnight, and the odd grain train).

Re: Two Crossings with 8" L.E.D.s
Reuploaded this video from February 2021. We get a look at the quadruple gateless signals with 8" L.E.D.s at Read Road. Then a quick look at a WSOR switching move over this crossing which still has the GS Type 1 and flat-sounding Griswold or RACo mechanical combo. Then we see a gateless signal with incandescent Griswold lights and mechanical bell at Prospect St. in Beloit (I really should submit my photos of that sometime).
The last crossing seen in the video is at the very end of the active part of the line and had this setup in 2007 but was upgraded with gates, L.E.D.s and dual e-bells sometime before 2010.
