I haven't seen any photos showing the Google car "racing the gate" so to speak. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen though. At gateless crossings, there's no way for us to tell if the car didn't stop, see that the train was really slow/stopped/switching/backing up and decide it was safe to proceed. The cameras stop going when the car stops moving, or the driver deactivates it.

I have seen pictures where the car is pulling up to the gas pump or going though a drive-through, but that's another story.
