*originally recorded on 6-27-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a dead Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching M515 in Mauk, we continued on over to this crossing in the nearby unincorporated community of Norwich for our next train. After a bit of waiting, we were able to get our fourth, and best, catch of the day: CSX M208 with a YN2 AC44CW leading a YN3 ES40DC for power and a friendly crew! Definitely great seeing another YN2 leader.

This crossing is another nice one, featuring another late-70s SCL install that's been modernized over the years. It appears that, in the 2000s, CSX replaced the bell on the closer signal with the current GS Type 2 e-bell. Then, in the early-2010s (I assume between 2012 and 2014), CSX replaced the original lights here with the current WCH 12x24s when upgrading this crossing to LED. Finally, sometime after 2023, CSX replaced the original late-70s Safetran gate mech on the closer signal with the current Siemens one. Thankfully, the far signal still retains both its original Safetran gate mech from the late-70s and Safetran mechanical bell, though sadly the Safetran bell here is also dead. Definitely a shame to find yet another dead mechanical bell on this day, hopefully CSX fixes it rather than replacing it. Either way, I'm definitely glad I was able to film this crossing when I did.
